SIGNPOST is a pioneering, interactive public art project centered on visualizing Past and Future landscapes from particular vantage points, primarily in urban areas. The underlying goal is to contextualize climate change by showing the extraordinary changes these areas have undergone in the past 100-150 years and to project human-engineered change into the future by roughly the same time frame. Through audio and visual overlays the project provides participants new ways to engage and deepen their connections with a specific landscape.
There are 2 ways to experience SIGNPOST: either by looking through stationary viewing binoculars or by mobile app via phone or tablet.
SIGNPOST is collaboratively designed with input from a worldwide community of scientists, artists, historians, architects, designers, and developers. Its mission is to engage, delight, transport, warn, and ultimately help users develop a deeper connection with place to become engaged stewards of that place.
